Greek Sports

Yahsu! (That's how you say 'hello" in Greek!) Kaitee here!
Many people wander what kind of sports are played here in Greece. Well, sports are very popular here! They are considered to be the oldest kind of entertainment. Tourists enjoy watching these sports, and some of them even participate! The Olympic Games playes a big role in the culture and religion of Greece. The Olympic Games used to take place every 4 years at the Olympia stadium. They began with a sacrifice to the Greek god, Zeus. Six of the sports that were played during the Olympics were running, javelin casting, dicus throwing, pancration, dispatch race, and jumping. The Olypmic Games are still a very big event in Greece and is now national.
Some other sports and activities we enjoy doing are: tennis, water skiing, sailing, windsurfing, diving tourism, hiking and climbing, skiing, and hang gliding (paragliding). If you would like to view what other countries sports are or just how their everyday life flows, go to http://www.europeangeography.blogspot.com/
Thanks for reading!! :)

I forgot that the olympics started in Greece! Wasn't discus throwing like chucking a stone frisbee as far as you could? I don't really remember. : )
